Louisiana: Proposed Statewide Smoking Ban

By J. Glynn Loope, Executive Director
Cigar Rights of America

Cigar Rights of America is standing with the Louisiana Association of Beverage Control Licensees, Louisiana Independent Tobacconist's Association and associated allies for the defeat of SB 133.

This statewide smoking ban legislation barely passed the Senate Health & Welfare Committee last week, on a 4-3 vote, after exempting casinos.

It needs to be defeated in the full Senate, and if it gets out (as it did last year) we will need to work together for its defeat in the House of Representatives (where it was defeated last year). We can leave nothing to chance.

We are pleased to report that it appears that the proposed tobacco tax increase on cigars in Louisiana is dead for the year!

Please contact the members of the Louisiana House of Representatives and Senate to express your opposition to SB 133.
