We Thought We Were Out of the Woods in Texas -- Evidently Not!

Once again Rep. Myra Crownover is attempting a backdoor legislative maneuver to get a statewide smoking ban in Texas. In a surprise announcement made by Smoke Free Texas, Rep. Crownover is again attempting to attach her smoking ban legislation to the state's budget bill.

The Texas House Appropriations Committee has scheduled a 9:00 AM meeting for TOMORROW (Saturday, June 4, 2011) to entertain attaching the smoking ban bill to the budget as proposed by Rep. Crownover.

Just one week ago, the Texas Senate removed this provision, not wanting to jeopardize a budget deal for the sake of a statewide smoking ban.

Please contact your member of the Texas House of Representatives and tell them to say 'NO' to House Bill 46.

Also, please contact your member of the Texas Senate and tell them to AGAIN remove the smoking ban bill from the budget -- and defeat this smoking ban proposal once and for all.
